Handbuilding Workshop: Floral Stamping

Welcome the new season with a mindful ceramic workshop inspired by nature. In this hand building session, we will create simple functional pieces and decorate them with floral and botanical stamps, capturing the beauty of spring in clay. During the workshop, you will work with approximately 350 grams of clay to shape a simple form such as a mug, bowl, or plate. These forms are intentionally kept simple so the focus can be on surface decoration. Once the shape is created, you will explore a variety of flower and leaf otpions, pressing patterns into the clay to create textured designs. You will also be able to gently curve and refine your piece to give it a soft, organic feel. You can also bring your own flower or leaf that you would like to stamp to the clay. After stamping, you can further personalize your work using pigmented clay, adding subtle colour accents that highlight the textures and patterns you created. This workshop is handbuilding only and does not include the use of the pottery wheel. The session includes 350 grams of clay, use of tools, stamps and materials, guidance from the teacher, and the finishing of one piece. After the workshop, your piece will be glazed with a transparent studio glaze and fired in the kiln. Your finished piece will be ready for pickup in the studio in approximately 4 weeks.
