This beginner-friendly workshop is a hands-on introduction to throwing on the pottery wheel. You will be guided step by step through the essential techniques of centering, opening, and shaping clay on the wheel. We work in small groups to allow for an individual approach, so you receive personal guidance throughout the session. At the end of the workshop, we will also show you how to disassemble and clean the pottery wheel—an important part of the process. During the session, you will work with approximately 350 grams of clay and are welcome to create multiple pieces as you practice. At the end, you will be able to select one piece to be finished by us. The workshop includes clay, use of tools and materials, guidance from the teacher, and the full finishing process of one selected piece (trimming, glazing, and firing). Your piece will be glazed in one of our studio glazes and fired in the kiln. Your finished work will be ready for pickup at the studio in approximately 4 weeks. Please note that this workshop focuses on the experience of learning the wheel. Working with clay takes practice, and not all pieces may be suitable for firing. Additional pieces cannot be kept. Food and drinks are not included in this workshop.
